Te mapa
La Pintana is a commune on the southern edge of Greater Santiago, where the city meets what remains of the farmland in the Santiago basin. From above, the pattern is mixed. Housing estates and small street grids sit alongside larger open parcels, fields and plots that have not yet been built on, giving the map a less uniform look than the central districts.
A large part of the commune is taken up by the Antumapu campus of the University of Chile, home to its agriculture and veterinary faculties. On a map the campus appears as a broad area of experimental fields, orchards and buildings, and it is one of the largest green spaces in the south of the city.
Main avenues run north toward the centre of Santiago, and on clear days the Andes are visible to the east across the whole valley. A La Pintana map poster records a place in transition, where the regular pattern of residential neighbourhoods meets the older farmland of the capital's southern fringe.
The University of Chile's agricultural campus forms a large open area of fields and orchards, breaking up the residential pattern with broad, calm shapes.
Housing estates laid out in compact grids fill much of the commune, and their repeating blocks create a fine, regular texture on the map.
Toward the southern edge, streets give way to farmland and open plots, marking the boundary between Greater Santiago and the countryside.

Koteā ko La Pintana
La Pintana is home to many families in the south of Santiago, and to students who spent years at the agricultural campus. A map of the commune is a simple way to honour a neighbourhood that rarely appears on posters.
