Te mapa
Peñalolén is one of the communes on the eastern edge of Greater Santiago, and its map is a story of rising ground. On the western side the streets form the dense, regular grid of the Santiago basin. Moving east, blocks become looser, roads begin to curve and switch back, and the city finally stops against the dry slopes of the Andean foothills, where the map turns almost empty.
The commune mixes older working-class neighbourhoods with newer gated developments and a major university campus on the upper slopes. Its hillside parkland, including the ravine known as Quebrada de Macul, draws hikers and cyclists from across the capital, and on clear days the higher streets look out over the whole of Santiago.
A Peñalolén map poster holds both halves of that picture: the tight lowland grid and the open mountain front. Streams coming down from the ravines leave faint diagonal lines through the neighbourhoods, and the contrast between detail and emptiness on the eastern side gives the composition a natural direction, as though the city were leaning toward the mountains.
The eastern part of the map runs up against steep, largely unbuilt slopes, where the street pattern ends and the mountains take over the frame.
On the western side the commune shares the regular block pattern of the Santiago valley floor, with long parallel streets and small, closely packed lots.
Higher up, newer neighbourhoods follow winding roads and cul-de-sacs adapted to the slope, giving the upper map a softer, looping texture.

Koteā ko Peñalolén
Peñalolén is a place where people put down roots, and its map is a faithful picture of home in eastern Santiago, with the mountains always present. It suits families who have lived here for generations as well as those who moved up toward the foothills.
Personalise the title and subtitle with a street, a family name or a date, and edit the coordinates line if you wish. Pick from five styles, Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand, as digital files or a printed poster.
