Te mapa
Labattoir is the main town of Petite-Terre, the smaller of Mayotte's two principal islands, and part of the commune of Dzaoudzi. The island is compact, and from above almost everything is visible at once: the town's streets, the lagoon shoreline, the rim of an old volcanic crater and the runway of the territory's airport stretching across the land.
The crater holds Dziani Dzaha, a lake of greenish water set inside a ring of steep slopes, one of the most striking natural features in Mayotte. Across the water, a regular ferry, known locally as the barge, links Petite-Terre with Mamoudzou on Grande-Terre, and much of daily life moves along that crossing.
A Labattoir map poster reads almost like a small atlas page. The crater lake forms a clean circle among the streets, the runway draws a bold straight line, and the lagoon wraps everything in open water. It is a graphic, unusual composition for such a small town.
The crater lake sits within a ring of volcanic slopes close to the town, appearing on the map as a distinctive enclosed shape surrounded by streets and paths.
Mayotte's airport lies on Petite-Terre, and its long runway cuts a straight, confident line across the island near Labattoir.
The edges of the island meet one of the large lagoons of the Indian Ocean, giving the poster a clear, irregular coastline on every side.
