Te mapa
Luobuqiongzi lies in southern Tibet, in the high valley country east of Shigatse. At this altitude, settlements are small and closely tied to water. From above, the town appears as a modest cluster of streets on a valley floor, with fields along the river and bare mountain slopes rising steeply on both sides.
In landscapes like this, the map is made mostly of terrain. Roads follow the valleys because they are the only practical routes, rivers split into several channels across wide gravel beds, and irrigated fields form thin green strips along the water. The built-up area is small compared with the vast empty space around it.
A Luobuqiongzi map poster is a minimal composition. It shows a few streets, a road, a river and very little else, set within the scale of the Tibetan Plateau. The absence of detail is part of its appeal: in monochrome, the sheet is mostly open space, with the settlement as a small, precise mark in the middle.
The town occupies a narrow strip of flat land in a high valley. It is a small, compact cluster surrounded by empty terrain.
Water runs along the valley floor, sometimes splitting into several channels. These are the most visible natural lines on the map.
Steep, bare hillsides rise on both sides of the valley. On the print they appear as wide empty space around the small street pattern.

Koteā ko Luobuqiongzi
Some people hang this map because they have travelled through southern Tibet, and others because the place means something to them personally. In either case, its spareness makes a calm, unusual poster.
