Te mapa
Maki lies in the western part of the Echigo Plain in Niigata Prefecture. It was an independent town until 2005, when it merged into the city of Niigata, and it is now part of Nishikan Ward. The name is still used for the town centre and its surroundings.
From above, the landscape is mostly flat and divided into rectangular rice paddies, with irrigation channels and farm roads drawing a fine grid across it. The built-up centre is compact and clusters around the railway and main roads. To the west, low wooded hills rise between the plain and the Sea of Japan.
A Maki map poster captures that contrast between the level, carefully divided farmland and the soft, irregular contours of the hills. It is a quiet composition, made mostly of straight field boundaries, with the small town gathered in the middle.
Rice fields cover the plain in neat rectangles, and the channels and farm tracks between them give the map a fine, even texture.
A band of low, wooded hills to the west separates the plain from the sea and appears as the only rough terrain in the frame.
The old town centre forms a small, dense cluster of streets around the railway, clearly set apart from the surrounding farmland.

Koteā ko Maki
Maki is the sort of place people keep a personal link to, a family home or a childhood spent among the rice fields, and a map preserves it even after the town lost its separate name in the merger.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, and write the old town name in any way you like. Five styles are available: Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand.
