Te mapa
Maluso is a municipality on the south-western coast of Basilan, an island just off the tip of the Zamboanga Peninsula in the southern Philippines. The shoreline defines its map. The town gathers along the coast and its streets run down toward the water. In many coastal communities of this region, houses also stand on stilts over the shallows.
Inland, the ground rises into the green interior of Basilan, which is planted with coconut and rubber. Roads cross it to link Maluso with Isabela City and other towns on the island. Small islands and reefs dot the surrounding waters, and fishing has long been central to local life. The coastline gives the map a strong, irregular edge.
A Maluso map poster shows the meeting of land and sea in simple lines: the compact town and its roads set against the curve of the coast and the open water beyond. It is a quiet, personal image for anyone from this corner of Basilan, wherever they now live and work.

The irregular coastline of south-western Basilan forms coves, points and shallow water. It gives the map an intricate edge full of small inlets.
Inland from the coast, plantations and rising ground fill the frame. Roads cross them toward Isabela City and other towns on the island.
