Te mapa
Medicilândia grew from the colonisation programme that came with the Trans-Amazonian Highway in the 1970s. Its layout shows that origin clearly. From above, the town is a planned block pattern set beside the highway, with straight streets meeting at right angles. Beyond it, rural side roads run out into the surrounding land at regular intervals.
The municipality is known across Brazil for cacao and is often described as one of the country's leading cocoa producers. The plantations and smallholdings that supply it fill the land around the town. At map scale, that shows up as long feeder roads reaching out from the urban grid into the Pará countryside.
A Medicilândia map poster turns a frontier plan into a clean graphic. The rectangular blocks, the highway along one side and the lines of rural roads make an orderly pattern in a region usually pictured as unbroken forest. The poster is a record of a town built on purpose in a single generation.
The Trans-Amazonian Highway, BR-230, runs past the town and sets its orientation. On the map it is the long line that everything else is drawn in relation to.
The centre is laid out in regular rectangular blocks, a sign of its planned 1970s origins. In black and white, the grid reads as calm and even.
Side roads reach out from town into cocoa-growing smallholdings. They extend the pattern of straight lines well beyond the urban edge.
