Te mapa
Mitoyo stretches along the western coast of Kagawa Prefecture, facing the Seto Inland Sea. It was formed in 2006 when several towns merged, so it has no single centre. It is a string of settlements between the shore and the hills. From above, the coast shows sandy curves and small harbours. Inland, the plain is divided into paddies scattered with round and angular irrigation ponds.
Those ponds, called tameike, are typical of the dry Sanuki plain, and Mitoyo has many of them. The coast is known for Chichibugahama. At low tide on calm evenings, the wet sand reflects the sky so evenly that the beach has become a well-known photography spot. From Mount Shiude, spring cherry blossoms frame views of the islands and the port of Takuma.
A Mitoyo map poster brings together sea, farmland and small towns in one drawing. It shows the long coastline, the harbour breakwaters, and roads threading between ponds and fields. Offshore islands such as Awashima sit in the open water. The composition is calm and open, which suits the place itself.

Hundreds of tameike dot the Sanuki plain around Mitoyo. They give the poster a scattered pattern of small water shapes among the fields.
Takuma's port and offshore islands such as Awashima break up the sea. They add small outlines and piers to the western edge of the composition.

Koteā ko Mitoyo
Mitoyo is the kind of place people return to, whether for a childhood summer by the Inland Sea or a trip around Shikoku. A map of its coast and ponds keeps that quiet memory on the wall without a photograph.
