Te mapa
Mogadishu stretches along the Indian Ocean coast of Somalia, and on a map the shoreline forms a long, gently curving edge along the southeast side of the city. The urban area extends inland from the sea across mostly flat terrain, with low dunes along parts of the coast and a network of main roads radiating out toward the interior.
The oldest parts of the city, Hamar Weyne and Shangani, sit near the old harbour, with tight, irregular streets that reflect centuries of Indian Ocean trade. Mogadishu was an important medieval port, visited and described by the traveller Ibn Battuta in the fourteenth century. Nearby, the modern port and the airport occupy large parcels along the waterfront.
Further inland, districts spread out in a looser pattern of wide avenues and smaller neighbourhood streets, interrupted by open ground. Lido Beach, northeast of the centre, is the city's best-known stretch of shoreline. A Mogadishu map poster presents the city as a coastal settlement first, with the ocean line and the old quarters as its clearest landmarks.
The long, smooth Indian Ocean shore runs the full length of the city, giving the map a strong, clean edge that anchors every part of the layout.
Hamar Weyne and Shangani form a compact knot of narrow, irregular streets beside the sea, the historic heart of the city and still its most intricate area on paper.
The runway of the international airport lies parallel to the coast, a long, precise line that stands out clearly among the surrounding streets.

Koteā ko Mogadishu
For the large Somali diaspora, Mogadishu is a city of family stories and memories, and a map of it is a meaningful thing to hang at home. It can mark a district, a childhood street or a return visit.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can be changed to include a name, a neighbourhood or a year. Choose from five styles, and either order a printed poster from a partner in one of more than 30 countries or download the HD files.
