Warder is a town in Ethiopia's Somali Region, in the east of the country, and serves as an administrative centre for its surrounding zone. On a map it appears as a compact settlement on a wide, dry plain, with a handful of main roads meeting near the centre and smaller streets and compounds spreading outward before giving way to open land.
The surrounding region is semi-arid, and pastoralism has long been central to life in the area. Roads connect Warder with other towns across the Somali Region, and the town serves as a local hub for trade, services and administration for a large rural hinterland.
