Te mapa
Morocelí is a municipality in the department of El Paraíso, in eastern Honduras, lying in the hilly country east of Tegucigalpa. The town is small, and from above it shows a pattern common to many Central American towns: a regular grid of blocks around a central square, with streets running straight across the valley floor and fading quickly into farmland.
Around the town, the landscape takes over. Green hills and ridges surround the valley, rural roads wind across them toward villages and farms, and streams run down to lower ground in thin, branching lines. The department of El Paraíso is largely agricultural, and much of the land around Morocelí is given over to fields and pasture.
Morocelí is not widely known outside Honduras, and its map matters most to those who come from it or have family there. A Morocelí map poster shows the town exactly as it sits in its landscape: a neat cluster of blocks, a few roads leading away, and plenty of quiet space all around.
Morocelí's streets are laid out in regular blocks around the centre, forming a clean, geometric shape that anchors the whole poster.
The town occupies the flatter floor of a valley, and the surrounding slopes appear on the map as open ground crossed by only a few roads.
Winding roads run out of the town across the hills, linking it to outlying villages and giving the composition long, loose curves.

Koteā ko Morocelí
Many Hondurans live far from their home towns, in Tegucigalpa, the United States or Spain. A map of Morocelí is a simple, dignified way to keep the town present and to share it with children who grew up elsewhere.
