Te mapa
Nagqu lies on the Tibetan Plateau at roughly 4,500 metres, which makes it one of the highest towns of its size anywhere. It is the centre of a vast prefecture of grasslands and nomadic pastures in northern Tibet. Each summer it is known for its horse-racing festival, which draws herders from across the region.
From above, the setting is wide and spare. The town forms a compact grid of streets on an open plain, with low hills around the horizon and small rivers winding through the grassland. The Qinghai–Tibet Railway and the main highway toward Lhasa pass close by, adding long straight lines to an otherwise open landscape.
A Nagqu map poster suits travellers who crossed the plateau by train, people who work or grew up here, and anyone drawn to places at the edge of habitable altitude. The contrast between a dense town grid and endless open land makes a striking, minimal composition.
The streets form a fairly regular grid on flat ground, bounded sharply by open grassland. The town's edges read very clearly on the map.
The Qinghai–Tibet Railway and the main road to Lhasa cross the plain in long lines. They connect this remote town to the rest of China.
Small rivers meander across the open plateau in loose curves. They are some of the few natural features breaking up the wide, empty land.

Koteā ko Nagqu
Nagqu stays with people because of its altitude, its light and the sense of distance around it. A map print carries that openness onto a wall and makes a meaningful souvenir of a demanding journey.
