Te mapa
Namlea is the main town of Buru Regency in Indonesia's Maluku province, on the northeast coast of Buru Island. It faces the wide inlet of Kayeli Bay, and from above the town follows the shoreline in a long, shallow arc. Its streets run parallel to the water, and shorter lanes lead inland toward higher ground.
Buru is widely known as the island where Indonesia held thousands of political prisoners from the late 1960s to the late 1970s. The writer Pramoedya Ananta Toer composed his Buru Quartet there. The island is also known for cajeput oil, distilled from the leaves of the kayu putih trees that grow across its hills.
A Namlea map poster is mostly about the meeting of land and water. The bay takes up much of the frame, the harbour adds a few sharp edges to the shoreline and the town's streets form a narrow band behind it. In the Blueprint or Noir style, the sea reads as a large, calm surface against the fine detail of the coast.
The broad bay in front of Namlea dominates the map, its smooth expanse of water contrasting with the detailed street pattern along the shore.
The town's main roads run parallel to the coast, producing a long, layered shape that follows the curve of the bay.
Behind the town the land rises into the island's hilly interior, where roads thin out and the map opens into wide, quiet space.
