Te mapa
This Nanping lies in the southern part of Chongqing municipality, in the steep, folded terrain typical of the upper Yangtze region. On a map, the town does not spread out evenly. Its streets follow valleys and contour lines, packing buildings onto flatter ground and leaving the steep hillsides mostly open.
The terrain around the town is hilly and cultivated, and farmland often climbs the slopes in terraces. Roads wind between settlements rather than running straight, and switchbacks are common. Newer development tends to line the main routes, while older lanes sit closer together in the core.
A Nanping map poster reflects the dialogue between people and landscape that shapes much of Chongqing. The irregular street pattern, bent by hills and streams, becomes an expressive drawing in black and white. It is a quiet, particular image for anyone connected to this part of southwest China.
Roads curve and branch to follow valleys and slopes rather than a grid. This gives the town an irregular, flowing outline from above.
Steep ground around the town remains lightly built, leaving large open areas on the map that contrast with the dense valley floor.
Routes into Nanping wind and double back through the hills, forming distinctive curves typical of the mountainous Chongqing countryside.
