Te mapa
Nyimba is the centre of a district in Zambia's Eastern Province, located on the Great East Road that links Lusaka with Chipata and the Malawi border. The road is the defining line of the map, running straight through the town, and most of the built area is arranged along it or on short streets branching directly from it.
Beyond this central strip, the landscape opens into bush, small fields and scattered homesteads, crossed by tracks and seasonal streams. The pattern is sparse and irregular, with long distances between clusters of buildings. A Nyimba map poster emphasises this clear hierarchy: a single strong road, a modest town around it, and open country stretching away on every side.
As a stop on the main route between the capital and the east of the country, Nyimba serves travellers and hauliers as well as the surrounding rural district. The Luangwa River valley lies to the west, part of the wider landscape that the Great East Road crosses on its long way from Lusaka.
Zambia's main eastern highway runs straight through Nyimba, forming the backbone of the town and the strongest single line on the map.
Shops, services and homes cluster along the highway and its short side streets, giving the town a linear shape rather than a compact centre.
Beyond the town, tracks, small fields and homesteads spread thinly across the bush, filling the edges of the poster with a light, scattered texture.
