Te mapa
Odintsovo is a city in Moscow Oblast just west of the Russian capital. Its shape is largely set by two transport lines: the main railway heading west from Moscow and the major highway running toward Minsk. Between and around them, the city stretches out in a long band, with big blocks of apartment buildings and newer residential districts.
From above, the contrast between built-up and green land is striking. Residential areas give way to large patches of forest, parkland and dacha settlements, and in some directions the woods reach right to the edge of the apartment blocks. Toward the east, the city's development merges closer to Moscow's outer districts.
An Odintsovo map poster captures the pattern of a satellite city. It shows the long transport corridors, the modern apartment districts and the forest around them. For many residents, it is the place where they live and raise families while commuting into Moscow along those same corridors.
The railway and the westbound highway run through the city in parallel lines and set the main orientation of the whole map.
Large residential blocks with courtyards form a distinctive, repeated texture across much of the urban area.
Woods and dacha settlements surround the city, creating wide green spaces that contrast with the density of the built-up districts.
