Te mapa
Padmanābhapuram lies in Kanyakumari district in Tamil Nadu, close to the town of Thuckalay. It was the capital of the kingdom of Travancore before the court moved to Thiruvananthapuram in the late eighteenth century. The old town was enclosed by a granite fort, and its outline can still be traced on a map as a defined area with streets inside.
At the centre is the Padmanābhapuram Palace, one of the largest wooden palace complexes in Asia, famous for its carved teak and traditional Kerala architecture. Although it lies in Tamil Nadu, the palace is maintained by the government of Kerala, a legacy of the old Travancore state. Around it, temple streets and residential lanes form a compact grid.
A Padmanābhapuram map poster shows the fort town within a green landscape of paddy fields, coconut groves and low hills that rise toward the Western Ghats. It is a small place with a large history, and the map presents it as a clearly ordered centre surrounded by open countryside.

The historic granite walls once defined the town's limits, and their line still gives the centre a clear, bounded shape.
Low hills and green farmland surround the town, leaving open space around the old capital and giving the poster a calm frame.
