Te mapa
Partizansk lies in the south of Primorsky Krai, in the valley of the Partizanskaya River, surrounded by the wooded foothills of the Sikhote-Alin. On the map the town stretches along the valley floor, with neighbourhoods following the river and the railway and outlying districts set further off. The overall shape is long and branching rather than compact.
Until 1972 the town was called Suchan, and the river bore the same name. Both were renamed that year, along with many other places in the Russian Far East, and the new name honours the partisans who fought in the area during the Civil War. For most of the twentieth century, life in the town revolved around coal mining in the surrounding hills.
A Partizansk map poster shows a classic Far Eastern valley town: a main street and railway following the river, residential blocks in regular rows and hills pressing in on both sides. It suits people who grew up here or in nearby Nakhodka, and those whose family history is connected to the mines.
The river runs the length of the town, and the main streets, railway and residential districts follow its course. This gives the map a strong linear direction.
Some neighbourhoods sit apart from the centre. On the poster they appear as separate clusters linked to the main town by roads that wind through the hills.
Forested slopes rise on both sides of the valley and frame the town with open space, so the built-up area reads as a clear, narrow band.

Koteā ko Partizansk
Partizansk, still Suchan to older generations, has a strong identity rooted in mining and the Far East. A map of it is a meaningful gift for family members who have moved to Vladivostok, western Russia or abroad.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line with the modern name, the old name Suchan or a family date, and choose among Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. HD files cost $9, and printed posters are available too.
