Te mapa
Picsi lies in the Lambayeque region of northern Peru, a short distance inland from Chiclayo. The land here is coastal desert, made productive by irrigation. From above, the town is a compact grid of streets surrounded by large, orderly agricultural plots, each outlined by roads and water channels that carry river water across the plain.
This part of Lambayeque has long been associated with sugar cane, and the landscape around Picsi reflects that. The fields are big and geometric, and the canals and ditches between them make a lattice that gives the countryside almost as much structure as the town. Beyond the irrigated zone the land becomes dry and open.
A Picsi map poster brings out that layered order: the town grid, the fields around it and the network of channels that makes farming possible here. In a monochrome style the contrast between cultivated plots and bare desert is especially clear. It is a map of a place shaped as much by water management as by streets.
Large rectangular plots surround the town, separated by roads and irrigation channels, and make a strong geometric texture across the valley floor.
Picsi's streets follow a regular block layout, the dense centre of a composition otherwise dominated by agricultural land.
Past the irrigated zone the land turns dry and open, a clear edge where the grid of fields gives way to empty space on the map.

Koteā ko Picsi
For families from Picsi and the surrounding valley, a map of the town and its fields captures a very particular landscape of cane, canals and desert light. It is a good gift for someone who moved to Chiclayo, Lima or abroad.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line and choose from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Order it as a $9 digital file or as a printed poster with an optional wooden frame.
