Te mapa
Prairieville is an unincorporated community in Ascension Parish, Louisiana, in the corridor between Baton Rouge and New Orleans. Once largely rural, it has grown rapidly as a suburb, and its map shows that change clearly. Subdivisions spread out from the main highways, each with its own loops of residential streets.
The area is defined by major roads more than by a traditional centre. Airline Highway and Interstate 10 cut across the landscape, and local roads connect a series of neighbourhoods set among remnants of woods and pasture. Small bayous and drainage channels wind through the low, flat terrain, typical of south Louisiana.
A Prairieville map poster shows a community in the process of taking shape. Curving subdivision streets sit beside straight rural roads and the long lines of highways. The map has no single focal point, which gives it an even, wide texture that works especially well in larger print sizes.
Interstate 10 and Airline Highway run across the area, drawing long, straight lines that divide the map and connect Prairieville to both Baton Rouge and New Orleans.
Residential developments appear as self-contained clusters of curving streets and cul-de-sacs, each branching from a single entrance road off the main routes.
Small bayous and drainage channels meander through the low, flat land, adding winding lines between the neighbourhoods, a characteristic element of the south Louisiana landscape.
