Te mapa
Pudong occupies the land east of the Huangpu River, across from Shanghai's historic Bund. Until 1990 it was mostly farmland, warehouses and docks; that year it was designated a special development zone, and within three decades it became one of the most recognisable skylines in the world. On the map, the contrast with the older west bank is immediate.
The Huangpu makes a tight bend around Lujiazui, creating a peninsula where the Oriental Pearl Tower, the Jin Mao Tower, the Shanghai World Financial Center and the 632-metre Shanghai Tower stand close together. From there, Century Avenue runs south-east in a long, straight line toward Century Park, one of the largest green spaces in the area.
Pudong extends far beyond this core, all the way to the East China Sea coast, where Pudong International Airport sits on reclaimed land. Bridges such as Nanpu and Yangpu, along with many tunnels, tie it to the rest of Shanghai. A Pudong map poster frames the river bend, the financial district and the wide modern grid.

A broad avenue running diagonally from Lujiazui to Century Park, one of the clearest straight lines on the map and a spine for the newer districts.
Large cable-stayed bridges and a series of tunnels linking Pudong to Puxi, their approach ramps visible as distinctive looping shapes along the river.
