Te mapa
Puno sits on the western shore of Lake Titicaca at roughly 3,800 metres. From above, its shape is set by the water: a curved bay to the east and steep hills to the west. The streets climb from the shoreline in tight rows, and the grid bends where the slopes become too steep, leaving a jagged upper edge against bare hillsides.
Near the centre, the Plaza de Armas and the cathedral anchor a regular colonial grid of short blocks. Toward the lake, the waterfront opens into a port and a promenade. Beyond it, reed beds and channels lead to the Uros islands, the floating settlements built from totora reed, which show on the map as fine marks scattered across the bay.
A Puno map poster works because of that balance between dense city and open lake. Puno is often called the folklore capital of Peru, and its Fiesta de la Candelaria each February fills these same streets with dancers. On paper, the city appears as a dark band between the calm of the water and the stillness of the Altiplano.
The shoreline curves around a sheltered bay of Lake Titicaca. On the map, the open water gives the upper city a wide empty field to contrast with.
West of the centre, the grid climbs and breaks into irregular stepped lanes as the slopes steepen, giving the city a ragged, organic edge.
Toward the Uros islands, paths through the totora reeds cut thin lines across the bay, a detail found almost nowhere else.

Koteā ko Puno
Travellers who crossed the Altiplano, and families with roots on the shores of Titicaca, often choose Puno for the lake itself. Few cities give a map this much open water and this much rising ground in one frame.
Add a title such as the lake's name, a subtitle with a date, and the coordinates. Choose one of five styles, including Blueprint and Sand. Download HD files for $9 or order a matte print with an optional wooden frame.
