Te mapa
Qiongshan lies on the northern coast of Hainan island, just south and east of central Haikou, which it has long been bound up with and now forms part of administratively. On a map it reads as a continuation of the provincial capital's street network, with the broad Nandu River, the largest river on Hainan, curving past on its way to the sea.
The area has deep roots: the old seat of Qiongzhou prefecture, which gave Hainan its historic name, lay here. Older lanes near that core are tighter and less regular, while newer districts spread out in wider, straighter blocks with arterial roads between them. The contrast is easy to see once colour and labels are removed.
A Qiongshan map poster captures that shift from compact older fabric to open modern planning, with the river as the dominant natural line. It works as a portrait of Hainan's northern gateway for someone who grew up here, moved to the island or simply spent a long stretch in Haikou.
Hainan's longest river runs past the district toward its mouth near Haikou, drawing a wide, curving band that anchors the whole composition.
The historic seat of Qiongzhou prefecture left a tighter, more irregular pattern of streets that stands apart from the broad blocks of later development.
Main roads run north into central Haikou, so the map shows how Qiongshan and the capital merge into one continuous urban area on the island's north coast.
