Te mapa
Quesada, usually called Ciudad Quesada, is the head town of San Carlos canton in Alajuela Province. It sits on the northern slopes of Costa Rica's central mountains, above the broad plains that run toward Nicaragua. From above, its centre follows the traditional Costa Rican pattern: a regular grid of blocks organised around a central park and the main church.
Beyond the core the grid loosens. Streets begin to follow the contours, and the town frays into lanes and farm roads as the land drops away. Rivers and streams cut small, steep valleys through the slope, and on a detailed map these ravines create green gaps that interrupt the rows of blocks.
The region is known for agriculture and cattle, and much of the land around the town is pasture and cropland. A Quesada map poster shows that transition clearly: an ordered urban heart, then a scatter of roads reaching out across a wet, fertile landscape. It is a very different view of Costa Rica from the coastal images most people know.
The historic centre is built on square blocks around a plaza and church, a colonial-era planning habit that gives the middle of the map a crisp, even rhythm.
The town lies on an incline, and small stream valleys cut down through it, breaking the grid into sections and adding curving lines where the terrain drops.
Routes leave the town northward and downhill toward the San Carlos lowlands, fanning out across farmland and giving the edges of the poster a sense of direction.

Koteā ko Quesada
For families from San Carlos, or anyone who has spent time in the northern zone, Ciudad Quesada is the reference point of the region. Its grid and slopes make an image that is recognisable to locals and quietly graphic to everyone else.
