Round Lake Map Poster & Print
Round Lake is a village in Lake County, Illinois, north-west of Chicago, part of a cluster of communities that share the Round Lake name. On a map the area is a mix of curving subdivision streets, small lakes and wetlands, with older, straighter streets near the rail line.
The lakes and marshes here are remnants of the last glaciation, which left the landscape of northern Illinois dotted with water. The village is served by a Metra station on the commuter line to Chicago, which cuts diagonally across the area and gives the older part of town its orientation.
