Te mapa
Sakuragawa was formed in 2005 by merging the towns of Iwase, Makabe and Yamato, and it stretches across a broad area of western Ibaraki. The western and central parts are low and flat, given over to rice paddies and villages, while the eastern side rises into forested mountains that lead south toward Mount Tsukuba.
The Sakuragawa River, which gives the city its name, flows through the plain, and the area has long been known for its wild mountain cherries. Isobe Sakuragawa Park is designated a national place of scenic beauty, and in spring the hills around it turn pale with blossom, drawing visitors from across the Kanto region.
In the Makabe district, a historic townscape of storehouses and merchant houses keeps many registered cultural properties, and the area is also known for its carved granite stone lanterns. A Sakuragawa map poster places these old streets within the wider pattern of paddies, rivers and mountain roads that shapes the city.
Two forested mountains rise on the eastern side of the city, crossed by winding roads; Mount Amabiki is home to the Amabiki Kannon temple.
A compact area of traditional streets lies at the foot of the hills, where storehouses and merchant houses line the roads in a dense, irregular pattern.
West of the mountains, the flat valley of the Sakuragawa River is divided into rice fields and villages, forming a wide, finely lined landscape.

Koteā ko Sakuragawa
Sakuragawa brings together three former towns, and many residents still feel a strong tie to one of them. A map of the city can mark that local identity, and it makes a fitting gift in cherry blossom season or for a new home.
Personalise the title with the city or a former town name, add a date or family name as a subtitle and set the coordinates line. Then choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand to complete the design.
