Te mapa
Salamá is the capital of Baja Verapaz department in central Guatemala. It lies in a valley surrounded by mountains, and on a map the town appears as a neat, compact grid set on the valley floor, with roads curving away into the hills to connect it with neighbouring towns and the rest of the country.
Like many towns founded during the colonial period in Guatemala, Salamá was laid out around a central plaza, with a church and municipal buildings facing the square. The regular grid radiating from that centre remains the clearest feature of the town's plan, while newer districts extend along the main roads.
A Salamá map poster captures the contrast between the town's orderly streets and the natural landscape around it. The river that runs through the valley adds a flowing line, and the mountain roads trace sinuous paths across the surrounding open space. It is a balanced, peaceful composition that reflects the character of the Verapaz region.
The town centre follows a regular colonial grid around its main square, a clear and symmetrical pattern that anchors the whole poster.
A river runs through the valley near the town, drawing a curving line that softens the geometry of the streets and adds natural movement.
Roads leaving the valley wind through the surrounding hills, their curves contrasting with the straight streets of the town centre.
