Te mapa
San Ignacio is the main town of Belize's Cayo District, near the border with Guatemala. It sits on the west bank of the Macal River, with its twin town, Santa Elena, on the opposite side. On a map the two are joined by bridges, including the single-lane Hawkesworth suspension bridge, and together they read as one settlement split by water.
The streets climb and bend around hills rather than following a grid, and the town centre is compact, with a market area close to the river. Not far downstream, the Macal meets the Mopan River to form the Belize River, which flows east toward the coast. On a hill above the town are the remains of Cahal Pech, a Maya site that predates the modern settlement by many centuries.
A San Ignacio map poster shows a town shaped by terrain: a river loop, irregular streets fitted between slopes and roads leaving in several directions toward the border and the interior. The surrounding green space is broad, so the town appears as a small, clear cluster within a larger landscape.
The river divides San Ignacio from Santa Elena and runs past the town centre. Its curving line is the strongest natural feature on the map.
This suspension bridge links the twin towns across the river and appears on the map as a short, clear connection between the two halves of the settlement.
The Maya site stands on high ground above the town. Its hilltop setting helps explain why the surrounding streets curve and climb instead of forming straight blocks.

Koteā ko San Ignacio
Many people know San Ignacio as the base for exploring western Belize, with its rivers, caves and Maya sites. A map poster keeps the town's riverside layout in view long after a trip, or marks a place someone calls home.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line with names or dates, then pick Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Sand suits the warm character of the region especially well.
