Te mapa
Saraburi lies northeast of Bangkok, on the edge of the Chao Phraya plain, and the Pa Sak River flows south through the town. From above, the centre is a compact grid of streets beside the river, with major highways passing close by on their way to the northeast. Beyond the town, rice fields give way to limestone hills and quarries.
The province is a major centre of Thailand's cement industry, which draws on the limestone of those hills. It also lies on the main road and rail routes between Bangkok and the Isan region. Elsewhere in the province, Wat Phra Phutthabat, which enshrines a revered footprint of the Buddha, has been an important pilgrimage site for centuries.
A Saraburi map poster shows the town in its setting: the river running through the centre, the highways and railway cutting across the plain, and the looser patterns of fields and quarries at the edges. The mix of regular streets and open land gives the composition a clean, measured feel.
The river winds through the town. Its curves stand out against the straighter roads of the centre and mark the oldest line of settlement along the water.
Major roads toward Isan and the north pass close to the town. They draw long, confident lines across the frame and link Saraburi with Bangkok and beyond.
Beyond the plain, limestone outcrops, quarries and cement works break up the landscape, adding irregular shapes and winding access roads to the edges of the map.
