Te mapa
Sihanoukville occupies an uneven peninsula on the southwestern coast of Cambodia, reaching out into the Gulf of Thailand. From above, the land is broken by low hills, with the town filling the valleys and saddles between them. The coastline does most of the drawing: a sequence of curved bays and beaches, each separated by a rocky point, running all the way around the peninsula.
The city was founded in the late 1950s alongside the country's only deep-water seaport, and the port's breakwaters and container yards remain a hard-edged, geometric shape on the coast. Across the rest of the peninsula the street pattern is loose and uneven, following the hills instead of imposing a grid on them, which leaves open patches in the middle of town.
Offshore, islands such as Koh Rong lie across the water, and the town is the departure point for boats heading out to them. A Sihanoukville map poster frames the place between sea and hills. The white of the water carries as much weight as the streets do, and the beaches read as a chain of clean arcs along the edge of the land.
Curved beaches alternate with rocky points around the peninsula, producing a scalloped coastline that gives the map most of its character.
The breakwaters, piers and yards of Cambodia's only deep-water seaport appear as straight, engineered lines set against the natural edge of the coast.
Low hills interrupt the town, so streets bend and break around them, leaving pockets of blank space inside the built-up area.

Koteā ko Sihanoukville
Many people pass through Sihanoukville on the way to the islands, and some stay for years. A map of the peninsula works as a record of that coastline, whether it marks a long posting, a diving trip or the place where family lives.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can all be changed. The five styles range from crisp Classic black & white to the warmer Sand, which suits a coastal town well. Printed posters ship from partners in more than 30 countries, or you can download the HD files for $9.
