Town on the hills
Siuna's streets adapt to the rolling ground, bending around slopes instead of forming a strict grid. This gives the centre an organic, irregular shape.

Te mapa
Siuna lies in the North Caribbean Coast Autonomous Region of Nicaragua, far inland from the sea, in a landscape of low hills, rivers and tropical forest. On a map, the town is an irregular cluster of streets that follows the terrain. A few roads lead out through the surrounding green toward other settlements in the region.
Siuna grew as a gold-mining town and, with Rosita and Bonanza, forms what Nicaraguans call the Mining Triangle. It is also one of the gateways to the Bosawás Biosphere Reserve, one of the largest areas of tropical forest in Central America, which stretches to the north.
A Siuna map poster shows a town set down in a vast forested interior. The streets gather tightly at the centre and loosen toward the edges, and the rivers and roads beyond them are the only other lines on the frame. The map conveys how remote and self-contained this part of Nicaragua is.
Siuna's streets adapt to the rolling ground, bending around slopes instead of forming a strict grid. This gives the centre an organic, irregular shape.
The town grew around gold mining, and it is one corner of the Mining Triangle it forms with Rosita and Bonanza in northeastern Nicaragua.
Only a few roads leave town through the surrounding forest and hills. They are thin, winding lines that connect Siuna to the rest of the Caribbean region.

Koteā ko Siuna
Siuna is a meaningful place for families from Nicaragua's Caribbean region, for people who have worked in the mining towns and for visitors heading to Bosawás. Its irregular, hill-shaped plan makes an unusual map.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can all be personalised. Choose from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Printed posters on matte paper ship from print partners in more than 30 countries.
