Te mapa
South Horizons is a large private housing estate on the island of Ap Lei Chau, off the southern coast of Hong Kong Island. Its residential towers were built from the 1990s on land formerly occupied by a power station. From above, the estate is a closely planned group of tall blocks on a waterfront site, with podiums, landscaped areas and internal roads between them.
A long promenade follows the estate's shoreline, looking out over the waters of the East Lamma Channel. Across the narrow channel to the north is Aberdeen, with its typhoon shelter and fishing harbour. Since 2016, the South Island MTR line has ended at South Horizons station, directly connecting the estate to Admiralty.
A South Horizons map poster shows a very different kind of place from a street-based city. Its structure is set by building footprints, the coastline and the water all around. The shoreline, the channel and the island setting give the design strong, clean edges.

A promenade runs along the estate's shoreline. On the map the coast is a clean line with the estate's towers set close behind it.
South Horizons station is the southern end of the South Island line. It links the estate directly to Admiralty and the rest of the MTR network.
