Starominskaya is a stanitsa, a traditional Cossack village, in Krasnodar Krai in southern Russia. It is the administrative centre of the Starominsky District, on the flat steppe north of Krasnodar and not far from the Sea of Azov. Like many settlements in the Kuban, it traces its origins to the Black Sea Cossacks, who settled the region at the end of the eighteenth century.
Its plan is typical of a Kuban stanitsa: long, wide streets set out in a regular grid, with deep plots behind each house for gardens and outbuildings. The settlement covers a large area for its population, with generous spacing and very straight lines. Main roads cross the grid, and ponds and low watercourses mark its edges.
Around the stanitsa, the steppe is divided into vast fields separated by thin shelterbelts of trees. A Starominskaya map poster shows this rural geometry at two scales: the orderly village grid and the rectangular farmland beyond it. In black and white the effect is almost architectural, a clear drawing of a southern Russian landscape.
Long, straight streets cross at right angles and extend far across the plain. The large, regular blocks give the map a strong, even structure.
Houses stand on long plots with gardens behind them, so the blocks are large and airy, with far fewer streets than a city grid of the same size.
Beyond the last streets, broad rectangular fields and narrow shelterbelts stretch toward the horizon. They frame the settlement with a wide, ruled margin.

Koteā ko Starominskaya
For people from Starominskaya, the straight streets and wide fields are a clear image of home, whether they still live in the Kuban or have moved far away. A map poster preserves that layout with the calm precision of a surveyor's plan.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line with a family name, a date or a dedication, then choose from five styles, including Blueprint and Sand. HD files cost $9, and printed posters ship from partners in more than 30 countries.
