Stratford lies in Fairfield County, where the Housatonic River meets Long Island Sound. The river forms the town's eastern boundary, running in a broad channel with Milford on the far bank, and the shoreline to the south opens into beaches, salt marsh and the flat land of Sikorsky Memorial Airport. Inland, residential streets spread in a loose grid broken by rail and highway corridors.
Founded in 1639, Stratford is one of the older towns in Connecticut, and its historic centre keeps a New England pattern of greens and colonial-era houses. In the twentieth century it became a centre of aviation as the home of Sikorsky Aircraft, which developed helicopters here. The town also gave its name to the American Shakespeare Festival Theatre, which opened on the riverbank in 1955.
A Stratford map poster uses all of that: the wide river, the curving coast, the marshes and the dense neighbourhood streets between them. The water bounds the town on two sides and gives the composition a strong frame. It suits people who grew up by the Sound or have a working connection to the town.
The broad lower Housatonic runs along the town's eastern edge toward the Sound, with bridges carrying road and rail across to Milford.
To the south, beaches, marsh channels and the runways of Sikorsky Memorial Airport form a flat, open edge where the town meets Long Island Sound.
The older core keeps a traditional New England layout of main streets and greens, surrounded by later residential grids that fill the rest of the map.

Koteā ko Stratford
Stratford is a town people tend to stay connected to: coastal childhoods, family homes near the river, jobs at the aircraft plant. A map puts those memories into a clear shape bounded by water, and it looks at home in a coastal house or a city apartment.
