Te mapa
Sulaco is a town in the Yoro Department of central Honduras, set in a river valley among the country’s interior mountains. The Sulaco River, which gives the town its name, flows through this region, and the landscape around the town is a mix of valley farmland, pasture and forested hills.
On the map, the town is a compact grid of blocks laid out on the flatter valley ground, in the manner of many Central American towns, with a central square at its heart. Roads leave the valley and wind into the surrounding hills toward neighbouring villages and the rest of the department, following the contours of the land.
A Sulaco map poster shows a small highland town defined by its valley: a neat grid of streets, the course of the river and the curving roads beyond. In black and white, the hills become open space and the town becomes a clear, dense centre. It is a fitting keepsake for Hondurans with roots in Yoro.
Streets form a simple grid of blocks on the flat ground of the valley, centred on a main square, the clearest shape on the map.
The river that shares the town’s name runs through the valley, a natural winding line across the landscape of central Honduras.
Roads climb out of the valley into forested hills, bending with the terrain toward villages elsewhere in the Yoro Department.
