Tai Kok Tsui is a neighbourhood in the Yau Tsim Mong District of Kowloon, Hong Kong, just west of Mong Kok. It began as a coastal area associated with shipyards and small industry, and reclamation later extended much of its land. Today it combines older residential and commercial streets with large modern housing estates and shopping developments around Olympic station.
From above, the neighbourhood falls into two clear parts. The older section is a close-knit grid of short blocks, packed with narrow buildings and shops and workshops at street level. To the west, reclaimed land carries wider roads, podium developments and high-rise towers on larger plots. Elevated roads and rail lines run along the edge and separate Tai Kok Tsui from the districts beyond.
A Tai Kok Tsui map poster shows how Hong Kong grows by layering new land onto old. The fine, dense grid of the traditional streets sits against the bolder shapes of the reclaimed district, with transport corridors framing the whole. It suits long-time residents, people who worked in the area and anyone with a feel for Kowloon's urban texture.

Land reclaimed on the western side carries large residential towers and shopping podiums. These form broader blocks and wider roads beside the older grid.
Elevated roads and rail lines run along the district's western side. They draw strong parallel lines that separate Tai Kok Tsui from the areas beyond.
