Te mapa
Takahagi lies on the Pacific coast in the north of Ibaraki Prefecture, north of Hitachi. The map shows a narrow coastal strip where most of the town is built. The JR Joban Line and the main coastal road run in parallel along it. Inland, the streets end quickly and the hills of the Abukuma highlands take over.
That shape gives Takahagi a clear division on the map. The eastern side is a line of beaches and small harbours facing the ocean. The western side is forested upland, with rivers running down valleys toward the sea. Hananuki Gorge, known for its autumn colour and a suspension bridge over the river, sits in those hills.
A Takahagi map poster captures a town held between two strong edges, the shoreline and the mountains. The built-up area is a thin band of streets. The rest of the frame is open coast on one side and folded, wooded terrain on the other, which gives the print a calm, elongated rhythm.
The town runs in a narrow band along the Pacific, with the railway and main road tracing the shore and small streets filling the space between.
Inland, the Hananuki River cuts a winding valley through the forested hills, an area well known in Ibaraki for autumn foliage.
Several rivers run from the highlands to the sea, crossing the coastal strip and dividing the town into distinct sections on the map.

Koteā ko Takahagi
Takahagi is a hometown for many who later moved to Tokyo or elsewhere, and a seaside escape for others. Its narrow coastal shape makes an elegant, recognisable print.
