Te mapa
Tiquipaya lies northwest of the city of Cochabamba, in central Bolivia, at the foot of the Cordillera del Tunari. From above, the town sits where the steep mountain slopes meet the flat floor of the valley. Streets spread outward from the centre across fields and gardens, becoming denser toward the south and sparser toward the mountains.
Streams run down from the Tunari range through the town, cutting the street pattern with narrow, winding lines of water and greenery. The land is fertile, and plots of farmland and flower gardens remain among the houses. Toward the south, Tiquipaya merges into the wider metropolitan area of Cochabamba.
The town is known for its flower growing and its green, semi-rural character. In 2010 it hosted the World People's Conference on Climate Change. A Tiquipaya map poster shows the shift from valley to mountain, with streets giving way to slopes and open land along the upper edge of the frame.
The steep slopes of the Cordillera del Tunari rise along the north of the town, forming a large, open area that contrasts with the streets below.
Watercourses run down from the mountains through the town, drawing narrow green lines that cross the street grid from north to south.
Flower gardens and farm plots remain between the houses, giving the map a loose, open texture rather than a solid block of streets.
