Te mapa
Tocantins is a municipality in the Zona da Mata of Minas Gerais, in the southeast of the state. It shares its name with the Brazilian state of Tocantins far to the north, but the two have no geographical connection. The Zona da Mata is a landscape of steep, rounded hills that were once covered in Atlantic forest, and that terrain shapes the town.
On a map, the town follows the lowest ground. Streets trace the valley floor and curve up the lower slopes. There is no strict grid, and the blocks are irregular because they follow the contours. Around the town, rural roads wind across hills used for pasture and farming, linking Tocantins with neighbouring towns.
A Tocantins map poster brings out the natural shape of a hill town. The streets bend and branch in a way that reveals the land beneath them even without contour lines, and the surrounding countryside gives the composition room to breathe. It is a modest place, and the print reflects that: a quiet image for people who know it well.
The main streets run along the bottom of the valley, where the ground is flattest. They form the spine from which the rest of the town grows.
Residential streets curve with the hillsides instead of forming a regular grid. The irregular blocks give the map an organic, almost hand-drawn character.
Beyond the town, winding rural roads cross rolling pastureland. These sparse lines fill the outer parts of the print with gentle movement.
