Te mapa
Tomilino lies just southeast of Moscow in the Lyubertsy area of Moscow Oblast, close to the city's outer edge. It grew up along the railway line running southeast from the capital, and on the map the tracks cut straight through the settlement. Around them, streets form a mix of older dacha lanes set among trees and newer blocks of apartment buildings.
Like many settlements near Moscow, Tomilino began as a place for summer cottages, reached by suburban train. Much of that pattern survives: narrow, irregular streets and large wooded plots sit next to recent housing developments with wider roads and courtyards. Patches of forest remain between the districts, giving the map large soft areas of green.
A Tomilino map poster shows those layers side by side: the straight rail corridor, the loose grid of dacha streets, the dense new residential blocks and the woodland in between. It is a clear picture of how the outer ring of Moscow has grown, and a personal one for those who live here.
The suburban rail line runs straight through the settlement, dividing it into two sides and anchoring the whole street pattern.
Older areas of narrow, tree-lined streets and large plots recall the settlement's origins as a summer retreat outside Moscow.
Woodland remains between districts, breaking the built-up area into sections and giving the map broad open shapes.
