Torzhok Map Poster & Print

Torzhok is one of the old towns of Tver Oblast, standing on the Tvertsa River between Moscow and Saint Petersburg. Its name comes from the word for market. For centuries it was a trading post and a stop on the road between the two capitals, and it kept a dense historic centre of churches, merchant houses and narrow streets.

The town is known for its gold embroidery, a craft still practised here. It is also known for its links with Pushkin, who stayed on the post road and praised the local cutlets. The Borisoglebsky Monastery stands above the river, and the older quarters rise on the steep banks on either side of it.

A Torzhok map poster follows the Tvertsa as it bends through the town, with bridges linking the two banks and older streets climbing the slopes toward the churches. Newer districts and the railway sit further out, giving a looser pattern around the compact historic heart.

Post-road town

The old route between Moscow and Saint Petersburg once ran through Torzhok. Its traces remain in the main streets that cross the river.

Torzhok means something to families with roots in Tver Oblast and to travellers who stopped there on the road north. A poster of its river bends and old streets holds that memory in a quiet, graphic form.

You can write the title in Latin or Cyrillic, add a subtitle and edit the coordinates line. Choose from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand.
