Te mapa
Tsurugashima is a suburban city in Saitama Prefecture, north-west of Tokyo. The land is flat, part of the terrace country west of the Arakawa, and from above it is covered by residential estates with curving streets, interspersed with small fields and patches of woodland. Railway lines cross the city, and the stations form the natural centres of each neighbourhood.
The Kan-Etsu Expressway runs through the city, and its junction with the Ken-O Expressway is a large interchange that appears on the map as a set of looping ramps. The name of the city means crane island, and, like many towns in the Tokyo commuter belt, Tsurugashima grew rapidly in the late twentieth century.
A Tsurugashima map poster shows a very Japanese suburban pattern: winding residential streets, straight railway lines, the sweeping curves of the expressway interchange, and small patches of farmland in between. It looks calm and ordered, with a surprising amount of detail.
The Kan-Etsu and Ken-O expressways meet here in a large interchange, forming dramatic loops and curves on an otherwise flat map.
Housing estates built in the late twentieth century have their own curving street patterns, clearly different from the older roads.
Between estates, small fields and wooded plots remain, adding texture and open space to the suburban map.

Koteā ko Tsurugashima
Tsurugashima is home for many commuting families, and a map shows their neighbourhood in a clear, calm way. It works well as a gift for a new home or as a reminder of where children grew up.
Change the title, subtitle and coordinates line to show a Japanese name, an address or a date. Blueprint suits the precise interchange shapes, and Paper gives a softer look. Files come in six print sizes, including A3 and A2, as 300 DPI PNG and PDF.
