Vasil’yevo is an urban-type settlement in Tatarstan, on the Volga upstream of Kazan. Here the river has been widened by the Kuybyshev Reservoir, and on the map the water occupies a large part of the frame. The settlement lines the shore, its streets set out between the water and the forest behind.
The area has long been a place for summer houses, holiday camps and weekend stays for people from Kazan, and wooded land surrounds Vasil’yevo on the landward side. Roads and a railway connect it to the city, while smaller streets and dacha plots fill the gaps between the shore and the trees.
