Te mapa
Wushan is in Gansu's Tianshui area, in the valley of the Wei River, and its shape follows that valley. The town stretches along the river's flat floor, with the main roads running parallel to the water and shorter streets crossing between them. On either side the ground rises into loess hills, and the settlement thins out quickly as it climbs.
The loess plateau gives this part of China its terraced slopes and its deeply cut gullies, and the valley floor is where roads, railways and towns tend to gather. That is why the map reads as a long ribbon rather than a round city. Wushan has been a crossing point along routes through the upper Wei valley for a long time.
A Wushan map poster captures that linear form. There is a long spine of streets, the river's course beside it, and branching valleys that pull roads into the hills. In black and white, the contrast between the dense valley and the empty high ground makes a spare, graphic print.
The river and the valley floor set the direction of the whole town. Streets line up alongside the water in a long, narrow band across the frame.
The hills on either side are shaped by thick loess soil. On the map they show up as open ground, with only a few roads climbing into them.
Smaller valleys branch off the main one, and roads follow them out of town. That gives the linear plan a few fine tributaries of its own.

Koteā ko Wushan
For anyone with family in Tianshui or the upper Wei valley, this map is a simple way to keep the shape of home on the wall. Its long, river-bound form also works well as a piece of graphic design in its own right.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates with a place name, a date or a short dedication. Five styles are available: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand.
