Te mapa
Yorito is a municipality in the Yoro department of central Honduras, in hilly and mountainous country. From above, the town is a small grouping of streets around a central area. The land around it is cut by ridges and stream valleys, and roads follow the terrain in long, looping curves as they climb toward villages in the hills.
The municipality is largely rural. Its communities depend on agriculture, and coffee and staple crops are grown on the slopes. Parts of the surrounding highlands are forested. As in many Honduran mountain towns, daily life centres on the main square and church, with outlying villages linked to the town by unpaved roads.
A Yorito map poster is mostly about landscape: a small town grid, a few watercourses, and roads that bend to fit the hills. The empty spaces on the sheet matter as much as the lines. In black and white, the result is spare and quiet, and it suits anyone with roots in this part of Honduras.

Roads leave the town and wind through the hills. Their curves reflect the ridges and valleys of central Honduras.
Small watercourses cut through the landscape. Their paths shape where settlements and roads can go.

Koteā ko Yorito
For Honduran families who have moved to San Pedro Sula, Tegucigalpa or abroad, a map of Yorito is a quiet link to the hills they come from. Its simplicity makes it a thoughtful gift.
