Te mapa
Yudong lies in Banan District on the southern side of Chongqing, in the folded, hilly country that gives the municipality its reputation as a mountain city. Very few streets run straight for long. Roads follow the contours, loop around hillsides and cross valleys on raised sections, so the map looks more organic than planned even where the buildings are new.
Like much of Chongqing, the area has grown quickly, with residential towers and new road links built over the past few decades. The Yangtze flows through the wider Banan District, and the river and hills together shape how the city here can spread. Chongqing itself is known well beyond China for its spicy hotpot and its layered, multi-level streets.
A Yudong map poster captures that constant negotiation with the terrain. Winding roads trace the slopes, dense blocks crowd the flatter ground, and wooded hills remain as open spaces between districts. The result is a composition of curves rather than grids, which suits a poster especially well.
Streets curve with the slopes instead of cutting straight through them. This gives the map loops and switchbacks that are rare in lowland cities.
Steep ground that has not been built on stays open between neighbourhoods. On the map it shows as quiet blank areas among the dense street network.
Recently built residential areas sit on the flatter land. Their larger, more regular blocks contrast with the winding older streets.

Koteā ko Yudong
Many people now living in Chongqing's southern districts are new arrivals, and a map of Yudong can mark the first home in a new city. Its winding lines look particularly good in the Blueprint and Noir styles.
