Zhangji Map Poster & Print
Zhangji lies in the Xuzhou area of northern Jiangsu, on the broad, low plain that stretches across this corner of eastern China. From above, the land is almost completely flat, so the town's plan is shaped by roads rather than terrain. Long, straight routes cross each other at near right angles, and the blocks between them are filled with housing compounds, workshops and small factories.
Like many towns in the Xuzhou region, Zhangji has grown fast in recent decades as industry spread out from the city. On the map, older lanes near the centre sit beside newer, much larger rectangular plots. Around the edges, a patchwork of fields, ditches and village clusters fills the space between the town and its neighbours.
