The map

About this Zeulenroda-Triebes map poster

Zeulenroda-Triebes was formed in 2006 when the town of Zeulenroda merged with neighbouring Triebes. From above, the two original centres are still easy to pick out. Each has its own knot of older streets, and newer housing and roads link them across the gently rolling land of eastern Thuringia.

The most striking feature nearby is the Zeulenroda reservoir, a dammed stretch of the Weida valley. Its irregular outline of inlets and wooded bays stretches along the edge of the town. On a map, the water spreads through the landscape like a branching shape and draws the eye away from the streets.

A Zeulenroda-Triebes map poster captures both parts of the place: the old town cores, where roads converge on small central squares, and the open water and forest around them. It is a quiet composition with lots of space and a clear sense of the valley.

01

The reservoir

The dammed Weida forms a long, branching lake with many inlets. Its shoreline is the most intricate line on the map.

02

Two old centres

Zeulenroda and Triebes each keep a compact historic core, where streets curve inward toward their own centre.

03

Rolling countryside

Fields and woodland fill the space between the settlements, giving the map a loose, open rhythm typical of the Thuringian uplands.
