The map

About this Bang Phlat map poster

Bang Phlat sits on the Thonburi side of Bangkok, where the Chao Phraya bends past the old royal quarter on the opposite shore. On a map the river forms its eastern edge as one long curve. The district's streets run back from the water in narrow lanes, and the dense grain of houses and small blocks fills every gap between the larger roads.

Canals are the old organising lines here. Thonburi grew around khlongs long before it had roads, and the map still shows these thin waterways threading through the neighbourhoods, sometimes beside a lane, sometimes cutting across one. A Bang Phlat map poster keeps these lines alongside the larger avenues, so the older water network shows up next to the modern road grid.

The Rama VIII Bridge, a cable-stayed crossing with a single tall pylon, lands on this bank and ties the district to the historic centre. Wider roads carry traffic inland toward the rest of Thonburi, while the riverside keeps its finer, older texture. In black and white, the district looks like two cities pressed together, one built on canals and one on roads.

01

Chao Phraya edge

The river runs along the eastern side of the district in a broad sweep, a clean band of white that separates Bang Phlat from the old royal island across the water.

02

Rama VIII Bridge

This cable-stayed bridge crosses the Chao Phraya and comes down on the Thonburi bank, one straight line spanning the river's curve.

03

Khlong network

Thin canals wind between the housing blocks. They are traces of the waterways Thonburi was built around, and they give the map a looser, more organic pattern than the main roads.

Why Bang Phlat

A map that means something

For anyone who has lived on the Thonburi side, crossed the river each morning or watched the bridge lit up at night, this map holds the neighbourhood in a single frame. It works as a quiet reminder of a Bangkok that lies slightly off the usual tourist routes.

You can change the title, add a subtitle such as a moving-in date, and edit the coordinates line. Pick from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, depending on whether you want the river to read sharp or soft.
