The map
Berchem-Sainte-Agathe is one of the smallest of the nineteen municipalities of the Brussels-Capital Region, on its north-western edge where the city meets Flemish Brabant. On a map, it is a compact, mostly residential area of terraced streets and small squares, bounded by railway lines and larger roads, with open land and farmland starting just beyond the regional border.
The commune grew from a village around its church of Saint Agatha, and its older core can still be found among the later housing. It is a quieter part of the city than the central districts, and its location between urban Brussels and the countryside is clear on any map: dense blocks on one side, open fields on the other.
A Berchem-Sainte-Agathe map poster is a detailed, close-up study of a neighbourhood. The dense street pattern fills the frame, railway lines cut through at clean angles, and the edge of the city is visible toward the west. It suits people who live or grew up here and want their own district rather than the whole capital.
The older centre around the Saint Agatha church sits within the later street network and forms a small, irregular heart in an otherwise orderly residential grid.
Tracks pass through and alongside the commune, drawing long straight lines that divide the neighbourhoods and give the map a clear structure.
At the Brussels-Capital border, dense streets give way to open fields in Flanders. The contrast shows up clearly on the western side of the print.
